Testamento del P. Luis de Medina manuscript
Scope and Contents
A collection of manuscript documents relating to the disposition of the estate of Luis de Medina, a secular priest of the Diocese of Lima. A declaration of debts and creditors, dated Lima, September 2, 1578, is followed by the general testament given in Lima, September 26, 1578. This testament orders the payment of debts, the distribution of funds by auction of furniture, and other property, with remaining property left to Medina's brother, Pero Méndez de Herrera. An enslaved man, Domingo, is bequeathed to the Society of Jesus as alms, as are vestments and a mule saddle. A codicil of October 8, 1578 orders distributions to nieces and others. Subsequent declarations are dated 1579, enumerating distribution of funds and property by the executor, Diego de Guzmán.Leaves numbered in manuscript, with text on both sides.
