Materials Specific Details
Parchment, color illustrations. Gothic script on vellum, ruled in brown, one column of 20 lines per page (calendar, 16 lines), writing text block of 90 x 55 mm.; calendar of 74 x 65 mm. Decoration: illuminated, with 4 full-page minatures. Capitals stroked with red; 1-line initials alternate red and blue; 2-line initials alternate red and blue on blue pen-flourish fields; 4-to-5-line initials alternate red openwork on blue and purple pen-flourish fields infilled with purple, green and yellow wash; 5-to-11-line initials are in red and blue openwork on blue and red pen-flourish fields infilled with green, purple and yellow wash. The miniatures are on singletons inserted thusly: [leaf 13] the Annunciation (Hours of the Virgin); [leaf 68v] the Last Judgment (Seven Penitential Psalms; [leaf 91v] the Ascension (Hours of eternal wisdom); [leaf 185v] the Entombment of Christ (Office of the Dead). Armorial bookplate of the Prince of Liechtenstein on front pastedown.
