Biographical Note
Paddy Cronin was born in 1925 and raised in Gneeveguilla, County Kerry, where he studied fiddle with Pádraig O’Keeffe. In 1949 Cronin immigrated to Boston, becoming well known as a flute and fiddle performer and working in various occupations before eventually moving back to Ireland. He made many commercial recordings and in 2007 received the TG4 Gradam Saoil lifetime achievement award. He died in 2014.

This interview by Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin of festival participant Paddy Cronin was conducted separately from the others, nearly a month after the festival, in the Boston College Audio-Visual Studio. Labeling of original media indicates that it was considered part of the festival.
