Scope and Contents
The photograph album contains photographs of Rev. Richard A. O'Brien, family members, priests, Boston College students, and Boston College athletics. The sports materials (all circa 1916-1923) consist mainly of photographs of the football and track teams but also include important hockey and baseball images. The collection also contains a publication entitled Humoresque which was produced by members of the class of 1925 and presented to O'Brien.

Biographical / Historical
Richard A. O'Brien, SJ was a Boston College classics professor and faculty director of the Athletic Association. During World War One, he became a chaplain in the United States Marine Corps. After leaving Boston College in 1925, O'Brien served Ateneo de Manila University in the capacity as both a professor (1925-1927) and president (1927-1933). He died in 1933 in the Philippines.
