Program for "John Brown's Body" at San Quentin Prison, dedicated to Rivers, 2002 October 31
The play was adapted and directed by a former Purcell and Queen's Men student of Rivers', Joseph DeFrancesco, who remained a lifelong friend. In the inside cover of the program, DeFrancesco dedicated the play to his late parents Carmela and Anthony DeFrancesco and to Rivers, "whose passion to make the Word flesh is the true inspiration for this production."

The Dream Chorale, which took its name from the "dream" of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., was founded in 1968 by Rivers under his nonprofit, Stimuli Inc., as a vehicle of intercultural and interracial understanding and an instrument of self-expression for the Black community. The Dream Chorale's choral director was McKinley Genwright, who collaborated with Rivers on numerous events.

Ronald Harbor, a composer, concert pianist, and accompanist known for his virtuoso improvisations. After working with Rivers, he went on to become a composer and liturgist in his own right. Arthur Lee Patterson, Jr., was a tenor soloist. Of special note was his singing at the 41st International Eucharistic Congress in Philadelphia, the Gift of Blackness Mass in 1976.

"Invitation to the Feast of Life", program and photographs, 1995 February
"Invitation to the Feast of Life" is a wooden sculpture commissioned by Rivers during a trip to Malawi. The sculpture was carved by Thomas Mpira of the Kungoni Art Center, Mua Malawi. The unveiling was held at Saint Ursula Academy, Cincinnati, Ohio, in February 1995.

One of the first weddings Rivers served as the celebrant and the last wedding that he was the celebrant: 1) the June 1964 wedding of his first cousin Joseph Echols, Jr. to Linda Jackson, a solemn high mass at Saint Anthony Church, West End in Cincinnati; and 2) the wedding of his niece Christa Lorraine Rivers to Enrique Caceres on August 7, 2004 at Saint Malachy Church in the Theater District, New York City.
