This collection contains personal, professional, scholarly, and teaching material from sociologist Everett C. Hughes, whose areas of scholarly interest included multi-ethnic, multi-racial, and multi-lingual societies; the sociology of work and occupations; and the history and sociology of educational institutions.

The papers contain materials related to Boston area lawyer and Irish activist John T. Hughes (1871-1945) and his family. It includes clippings concerning Hughes and Irish politics; correspondence; photographs; letters written by Hughes and published in Boston papers; and Hughes's obituary.

A bound journal containing hand-written notes transcribing F. C. Husenbeth's annotations from his copy of Mores Catholici by Kenelm H. Digby. The transcription includes indications of original page numbers where the annotations were made.

This collection documents the life and work of twentieth-century Jesuit Walter F. Hyland, SJ. It primarily concerns his teaching career in the Philippines and his internment in a Japanese camp during World War II. Materials includes correspondence, photographs, ephemera, printed materials, and clippings.

Depicts Saint Ignatius reclining at the base of a family tree of Jesuit saints. In the oval at upper right is attached a thread said to be from a garment of Saint Ignatius, set within an eight-pointed star.

Elaborately bound and illuminated hand-lettered address presented to Dr. William Robert Moorhead on the occasion of his departure from Benburb Dispensary District. Signed by 48 of his colleagues.

Collection of nine World War II-era American postal envelopes with hand-painted cachets illustrating town postmarks. Many are signed by the postmaster.

Bound manuscript of 124 pages (paginated 273-396, the last page blank), consisting of a series of meditations in Latin on the Exercitia spiritualia of Saint Ignatius of Loyola.

Manuscripts of plays, television drama scripts, poems, and an autobiography from late-twentieth century Irish authors including Bernard Farrell, Hugh Leonard, Frank McGuinness, and Thomas Murphy, collected by the National Theatre Society for a benefit auction in 1988.

Collected by Irish music expert May Mullins, materials include audio recordings of interviews with Irish musicians, live Irish music, and radio shows, as well as Irish-related ephemera including an Easter Rising commemorative coin (1966), an Irish banknote (1939), an Irish immigration themed U.S. postal stamp (1999), prayer cards (1916-1917), and sheet music.

Collection documents traditional Cape Breton and Irish music in the 1960s through the 1990s with live recordings of social gatherings, concerts, and radio shows performed in Massachusetts, Canada, and Ireland by various musicians, including Sally and Jimmy Kelly.

Collection of early twentieth century verse broadsides supporting the Irish republican cause, as well as related contemporary newspaper clippings and an invitation to the 1999 National Day of Commemoration ceremony.

Consists of programs and playbills from performing arts theaters in Ireland, predominantly Dublin, Galway, and Cork. The bulk of programs represent Cork Opera House, Druid Theatre/Mick Lally Theatre, Gaiety Theatre, Gate Theatre, and Olympia Theatre. The collection also contains ephemera such as articles, fliers, invitations, posters, and ticket stubs.

Bound manuscript of approximatley 700 pages, written in an italic cursive script, consisting of examples of love poems in different forms. Includes index.

Manuscript notebook written on laid paper, containing examples of arithmetic problems, currency conversion, tables of weights and measures for liquid and dry goods, word problems, methods of calculating interest, etc. Headings are written in a tall calligraphic script.
