Boston College collection of photographs and postcards of Ireland

Abstract This is a collection of photographs and postcards of Ireland from multiple sources. Black-and-white photographs of 1921 Dublin and the surrounding area, including some by commercial photographers, document unrest surrounding the execution of six prisoners from Mountjoy Gaol (now Mountjoy Prison) on March 14 of that year. Color slides feature Irish towns and everyday life in the 1980s and 1990s. Postcards feature images of Northern Ireland during the Troubles, and Irish tourist destinations...

Six photographs from the Quadricentennial Celebration of St. Francis Xavier's Arrival in Japan observed in Nagasaki, Japan. The collection also includes photographs of Xavier Castle (Navarre, Spain), the remains of the Jesuit Church and Rectory in Hiroshima after the dropping of the atomic bomb, the rebuilt Jesuit Rectory in Hiroshima and, the monument to St. Francis Xavier in Yamagughi, Japan.

Collection documents Roland J. Regan's service in the 348th Engineer Combat Battalion in the U.S. Army during World War II. Abstract Hans Anscar Reinhold was a Catholic priest who authored many books and articles about liturgical reform. He was born in Germany and served in the German army during World War I.
