Collection of dust jackets from books by detective fiction author Rex Stout, assembled by rare book collector and dealer Peter L. Stern. The collection also includes a poem written to Stout on his birthday by poet Mark Van Doren.

The Rex Stout papers concern the family life, writings, and political activism of detective novelist Rex Stout, author of the Nero Wolfe series. The collection consists of artwork, booklets, carbon copies, certificates, contact prints, comic strips, correspondence, dust jackets, galley proofs, floorplans, ledgers, manuscripts, negatives, posters, radio scripts, transcripts, and typescripts.

Contains a scrapbook of newspaper clippings documenting the 1940 Boston College football team with particular emphasis placed on the team's invitation to and participation in the 1941 Sugar Bowl. The collection also includes several of Nason's Sugar Bowl game charts, loose clippings and brochures. Most of the loose clippings relate to the 1942 football team. Many of the articles were written by Nason.

This collection contains correspondence, newspaper clippings, ephemera, photographs, and artifacts owned by or relating to John Lawrence Sullivan (1858-1918), the first American heavyweight champion boxer.

Collection of audio recordings, news clippings, photographs, and sheet music documenting the music of Tommy Sullivan, an Irish traditional musician from Springfield, Massachusetts. Also included are sheet music, news clippings, and two recordings of accordionist Joe Derrane, who was a friend of the Sullivan family.

Handwritten drafts of resolutions and other notes written by American Civil War-era Massachusetts Senator Charles Sumner, as well as contemporary published materials about Sumner.

Bound manuscript of 120 pages (last 5 pages blank), consisting of a devotional text written in the first person. Text begins on page 3 "Firma Animi decreta. Quemadmodum testudines et cochleae suas domunculas..." and concludes on page 113 "In itineribus memor sis frugalitatis, et modestiae ac pietatis."

The collection contains materials about Seumas O'Kelly, an Irish journalist and writer, collected by his nephew Alphonsus Sweeney. It includes Sweeney's correspondence regarding O'Kelly's life, as well as works by O'Kelly such as short stories and radio plays. It also has lectures and articles about O'Kelly.

Consists of one manuscript, "A Discourse Delivered, at the Roman Catholic Church in Boston, on the 9th of May, 1798, a Day Remembered by the President for Humiliation and Prayer throughout the United States" (1798) composed by Boston-born, Catholic convert, revolutionary, and priest, John Thayer.

Collection of printed materials from the Alcuin Society, a Canadian-based association for book design and production enthusiasts. Contains four issues of the Society's periodical, printed ephemera, and newsletters and communications.

Three works on the Chinese calendar by the French Jesuit missionary Antoine Gaubil. Includes diagrams and tables.

Handwritten letter from British Army lieutenant Abraham Edgar Thresh, East Lancashire Regiment, 2nd Battalion, to his first cousin Margaret Bottomley, of Rockville, Connecticut. Thresh gives recounts the Clonbanin ambush, in which a British Army convey came under attack by Irish Republican Army forces, wounding Thresh and killing two British officers. Thresh's correspondent is Margaret Bottomley (1898-1981), the daughter of his maternal uncle Charles S. Bottomley.

The papers document the life and academic career of twentieth-century Jesuit physicist John A. Tobin, SJ. It contains correspondence, writings, notes, articles, meeting minutes, administrative files, and photographs. Included are materials related to the Boston College Physics Department, Tobin's work with the Civilian Pilot Training Program, materials related to his teaching and academic pursuits, and some personal materials.
