The letters comprise thirteen bound volumes containing the correspondence of nineteenth-century Scottish author Charlotte Louisa Hawkins Dempster to her uncle, George Dempster. Also contained in the volumes are ephemera, including playbills and programs.

Papers document the teaching and administrative work of twentieth-century American Boston College English professor Paul C. Doherty. Materials include correspondence, clippings, course materials, draft manuscripts, event ephemera, and faculty meeting minutes. Doherty's instructional materials make up the bulk of the collection and focus on numerous topics including James Joyce, William Shakespeare, the short story, literary criticism, and rhetoric and composition.

James H. Dolan, SJ papers
The papers contain a journal, correspondence, legal and religious documents, clippings, ephemera, and photographs documenting the life of twentieth-century professor, Boston College president, and Jesuit James H. Dolan, SJ. Of note are photographs reflecting life at Boston College in the late 1920s and preliminary architectural planning documents for three Jesuit institutions.

Malachie Donaldson music book
Manuscript compendium of Irish and Scottish folk dance tunes, notated on hand-drawn staves. Entries in Fleischmann's Sources of Irish traditional music show that some of the tunes were included in 18th-century collections of country dance music or in operas. Accompanying some of the tunes are instructions for country dance steps.

John Donnelly & Sons records
Collection contains awards, business records, family papers, photographs, and scrapbooks related to the Massachusetts based outdoor advertising firm John Donnelly & Sons. Scrapbooks compose the largest series and consist mainly of newspaper clippings regarding both the company’s activities and advertising in general. Materials date from 1884 to 1998.
Collection is open for research; a portion is available digitally. Some materials are quite fragile; take care in handling. The photographs in box 46 are closed pending conservation review.
Audio recordings have been digitally copied; all original media were retained, but may not be played due to format. Digital use copies can only be accessed in the Burns Library Reading Room.
